This “Faces of ECI” profile focuses on Account Executive Stephanie Matlock, who has been with Exhibit Concepts since 2008. She started as an account manager before working her way into sales. From county music to Bob Marley and travel to trade shows, Stephanie is opening up in our latest “Faces of ECI” profile.
When did your career at Exhibit Concepts begin?
I initially began at Exhibit Concepts in 2008. I took a break when I had my daughter and came back in 2011.
How did you get into sales?
My initial sales role started with Kirby Vacuum Cleaners. That was a pretty short stint. I eventually landed at Exhibit Concepts in an account management role and loved the exhibit world so much that I accepted a sales role.
What do you like most about Exhibit Concepts?
The people! Definitely the people I work with. They’re so inspiring and we have such a great team here.
Describe your most impactful client moment.
It’s really hard for me to pick just one impactful client moment. Every time we help a client develop a design and then turn that into reality means a lot. I love when they arrive on the show floor and see what we’ve been working on come to life in person. It’s always really impactful to me to be a part of their success.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE...
Favorite food?
Potatoes. Mashed. Fried. Scalloped. Potatoes.
Favorite band or musician?
I feel like that is like trying to choose your favorite child. There are just so many great musicians and bands out there. I listen to anything from Little Big Town to Dispatch to Bob Marley. I listen to a very wide range of music and have a lot of appreciation for music. It’s one of my favorite things.
Favorite movie?
This was another one I struggled with because there are so many good ones. From my childhood, I would say my favorite movie is ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Lady and the Tramp.’
What are your secret talents?
I don’t really have a secret talent, but a lot of my friends and family call me the animal whisperer. Animals like me.
What is your ideal place to live?
Either in Sequoia National Forest or on Maui.
What is a superpower you wish you had?
I would love to be able to teleport and be in Hawaii in a split second or be in Malaysia in a split second. If I could choose one, that would be the one.
What charitable cause is most important to you?
The Orangutan Project. I am hoping to go to Malaysia in the next year to support them on an ecotour. Their goal is to help save and stop the organgutans from going extinct.
Who would you want to have dinner with? Past or present.
My grandfather. He was a big part of my life growing up and was always there cheering me on at my softball games and those kinds of things. I would love to have dinner with him again.
