This “Faces of ECI” profile focuses on Marketing Director Karimey Berbach, who has been with Exhibit Concepts since 2016. From award-winning booths to spectacular client exhibits, Karimey is opening up in our latest “Faces of ECI” profile.
When did your career at Exhibit Concepts begin?
I started at Exhibit Concepts in 2016. The NEXT Lab Director, Brad Livesay, and I actually started the same day. But I feel like I’ve been a part of this ECI family for a lot longer because I was a client for many years before I actually transferred over to this side of the business.
Explain your role.
My role as the Marketing Director is pretty vast–marketers wear a lot of hats. But I get to lead the most incredible team; I’d say that is the most important part of my role. I also create our marketing strategy, develop our campaigns, help manage our brand, proposals for all bid opportunities, strategize content… the list goes on and on, but I really enjoy it.
Describe your most impactful client moment.
That’s hard to choose because I have the most amazing task of doing client testimonials. So, I get to see the end projects a lot, including clients’ positive responses, but my personal most impactful moment would definitely be attending the first day of school at our most recent Goose Creek CISD opening of their permanent classrooms. Seeing the joy on the kids’ faces, seeing the teachers elated at being in that kind of space… it was emotional for everyone.
What do you like most about Exhibit Concepts?
It’s probably a tie between the people that we work with, it’s why I came to Exhibit Concepts, and also the impact of our work. We are on a major highway here in Dayton and tens of thousands of people drive by our sign every day, and nobody knows the quality of work, the impact of work that we do in the museum space, the education, and even corporate. You just don’t know that this building comes up with the most incredible work. That, and the people that are doing the work.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE...
Favorite food?
Probably tacos, specifically accompanied with an extra large margarita.
Favorite TV show?
I really like anything that we can watch as a family. We love The Great British Baking Show. We love Lego Masters. Glass blowing competitions, or Chopped, anything that’s family-friendly-ish and has a competition vibe.
Favorite band or musician?
The Rolling Stones. Hands down. I’ve got younger kids, and they know every word to all their songs; maybe not the best parenting move, but they rock out. 🙂
What are your secret talents?
I don’t know if I have a secret talent, but I read a lot, and just casually. I read about 200 books a year. I’m not a speed reader, but I read quickly.
What is your ideal place to live?
It’s pretty cliché but probably where my family is. It would be great if it were on a beach. It would be great if there were mountains in the background.
What is a superpower you wish you had?
I’m going to give the same answer that so many others have given, and that’s teleportation. Time is the one thing we can’t get back, and to remove the time portion of travel and seeing the world and skipping lines, like traffic, that would be pretty ideal to snap my fingers and move through rush hour.
Who is someone you would want to have dinner with? Past or present.
My mammaw. Not necessarily so I could see her, but so my kids and my husband would be able to meet her.
What charitable cause is important to you?
The New Path is a charity that my family is very passionate about. What we love about New Path is that they have many arms to their charity. They have assistance with medical equipment, assistance in car repair, food drives, and the list goes on and on. We love serving with them, and it really has a huge impact on our local Dayton community.
