Faces of ECI: Meet Andrew Sollenberger

This “Faces of ECI” profile focuses on Andrew Sollenberger, a Graphic Designer with Exhibit Concepts. From museum exhibits to family, Andrew is opening up in our latest “Faces of ECI” profile.

When did your career at Exhibit Concepts begin?

I began my career with Exhibit Concepts as a temporary employee in June of 2018.

Explain your role.

My job as graphic designer is to work both with the 3D designers and the client to develop the final graphics for both trade show booths and permanent environments, this includes creating final layouts, adjusting any imagery that is used, and preparing the files to go out to print.

Describe your most impactful client moment.

The most impactful client moment for me would have to be when we were doing some research for one of our early education centers, and there was a product that we were considering using, but we weren’t entirely sure how to use the product and what we could suggest to go along with the product, so I got to bring in my kids who and just allow them to play while we observed and discussed how we could better improve it to suit our client’s needs.

What do you like most about Exhibit Concepts?

The thing I like most about Exhibit Concepts is that there is always something new and exciting happening here, you never know what kind of fun and exciting things you will find just around the corner.

Where do you find inspiration?

I try to find inspiration in the little things, whether it’s the lighting at an indoor park we take my kids to or walking around the hiking trails around here, I try and look at things through different eyes and think, “What else can this be?”

ON A PERSONAL NOTE...

Favorite food?

My favorite food would have to be a nice juicy cheeseburger. There are so many ways you can change that up and introduce new flavors!

Favorite band or musician?

I don’t know if its fair to say that I have a favorite band or musician, it really varies from day to day, depending on my mood. One day I am jamming out to 90’s or 2000’s rock, the next I am listening to instrumental movie soundtracks.

Favorite TV show?

Well my kids are the ones that control the TV most of the time, so we are currently really into “Dora the Explorer”  and anything on Disney+.

Favorite movie?

I am a huge fan of the Star Wars Movies, there is just something about life a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Favorite book or author?

Rick Riordan, I love ancient mythologies and the way he brings those to life in modern day is highly enjoyable.

What are your secret talents?

My secret talent would be that I work with area theaters to design, build and paint theatrical sets and help make their performances come to life behind the scenes.

What is your ideal place to live?

My ideal place to live would be someplace tropical and close to the ocean. Somewhere where I could get off work and go put on my scuba gear or snorkel and hop in the water to explore.

What charitable cause is important to you?

A charitable cause that is important to me would have to be Rescue Me Inc. based here in Dayton, we are a local, all foster based, no kill, animal rescue that is a 5013C Non-Profit, dedicated to rescuing local dogs and cats, getting them the medical attention they need, and helping them find their forever homes.

Who is one person you’d want to have dinner with? Past or present? Why?

I don’t think that I can really choose just one person. There are so many amazing people throughout history that I would love to pick their brains so to pick just one would be impossible.

What is a super power you wish you had? Why?

I wish that I could shapeshift into animals. There wouldn’t be an issue that I couldn’t solve if I didn’t have that ability. If I had to get away from something, change into a bird and fly away. Need to move something heavy? Change into an elephant, provided there is enough space.
