Partnering over the years, Exhibit Concepts has been proud to help the Ohio Department of Natural Resources bring rendering to reality across the state’s park system. What begins as an idea on paper has been transformed into immersive spaces that highlight Ohio’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

From small-scale nature center renovations to expansive new builds, including facilities over 12,000 ft², Exhibit Concepts has worked side by side with partners to design and fabricate experiences that connect visitors to the land and its stories. Each project, no matter the size, has been approached with the same care and craftsmanship, blending education with engagement to leave a lasting impact.

Lake Loramie State Park

Serving as a gateway to the park’s hundreds of acres, Lake Loramie State Park’s new welcome center offers visitors sweeping lake views and immersive exhibitry. Showcasing the region’s natural and cultural history, Exhibit Concepts designed and fabricated the interior environments in partnership with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Great Council State Park, located about 20 miles east of Dayton, is Ohio’s 76th park and the first to focus on the Native American heritage of the region.

The 12,000-square foot interpretive center features immersive environments including a living stream, a replica 1770s dwelling, a frontiersman camp, and more. In addition to the immersive experiences, visitors also engage with gallery spaces, historic artifacts, and a theater experience.

Hueston Woods State Park

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources worked with Exhibit Concepts to build a new nature center at Hueston Woods State Park. Complete with live animals, including fish, reptiles, and honeybees, Working alongside The Interactive Group and Optic Nerve, Exhibit Concepts helped fabricate the facility’s interior which included custom signage and interactive displays.

Alum Creek State Park

Adding to its list of amenities at Alum Creek State Park, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was looking to convert an existing picnic shelter into an immersive nature center. Partnering with The Interactive Group, Exhibit Concepts helped bring the conversion to life. The project features several interactives including a turtle table, a boating safety engagement, and a custom-printed map.

Shawnee State Park

Partnering with The Interactive Group, Exhibit Concepts was called on to help highlight Ohio’s rich geological history at Shawnee State Park. Located near Portsmouth, Ohio, in the southern part of the state. The Shawnee State Park project had a unique challenge in that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources wanted to convert a historic cabin on the property into an interactive stop for visitors.

East Harbor State Park

Sitting on the banks of Lake Erie, the East Harbor State Park project took on a water safety theme. Updating a pre-existing structure on the property, Exhibit Concepts worked with The Interactive Group to fabricate an environment that was both educational and highly interactive. Plans called for engagements on boating, the region’s geological history, local flora and fauna, and a highlight of East Harbor’s diverse array of activities.
