Faces of ECI: Meet Steven Lowry

We believe creativity doesn’t reside in one department; it permeates everything we do. Faces of ECI highlights the talent behind memorable, magical experiential environments.

In this installment, we’re featuring Steven Lowry, an Account Executive heading up the Special Environments division of ECI.

1. What year did you start working for ECI?
I started in January of 2000. I was hired as an Account Executive for the Trade Show division of our business, but transferred to Special Environments (e.g. museums and permanent installations) division in 2003.

2. What role do you play for ECI?
I am the Account Executive for Museums and Early Childhood Education Centers.

3. Where do you find inspiration?
From God and the extremely talented people I work with.

4. What are your top three favorite projects?
I have been a part of hundreds of important and exciting projects. But the three (3) projects that I am most proud of are the IntelliZeum, which was the first Head Start Education Center in the United States, the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum.

5. Your most proud moment with ECI?
When my parents, wife and children toured the IntelliZeum. This was the first time they fully understood what an amazing job I have and the quality of work produced by Exhibit Concepts.

6. What is your absolute dream job?
Being an Account Executive for Exhibit Concepts is my dream job. When I started working in the exhibit industry thirty-seven years ago, I knew that one day, I wanted to work for Exhibit Concepts. I will always be thankful to Ned Brown and Rose Evans for hiring me.

7. What are your secret (or not-so-secret) talents outside of the office?
I am a potter. I started in high school and I have my own wheel and kiln. I have taught ceramics at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and at local elementary schools.

8.Tell us about a time you witnessed an ECI team member go above and beyond.
I see Theresa Hirt go above and beyond every time we have a proposal. She is a talented designer and writer.

9. What is one WOW moment you’ve experience at ECI that you’ll never forget?
In 2016, we produced a video that highlighted the Veterans who work at Exhibit Concepts. This video fills me with pride and gratitude every time I see it. You can watch the video here.

10. What food can you not live without?
Meals with my family.

11. What is your greatest fear?
Losing the ability to love.
